What To Put In Kid Lunch Boxes

Lunch Box Ideas

School lunches are not the greatest nutritional value for your little one. They also don’t taste that great either. You don’t want your child to come home stating how hungry he is because school lunch was horrible! SO to make sure your little one has a lunch he likes I suggest homemade lunches! (I make my husband a lunch box as well).

A Monday – Friday Pack up so you won’t have to wake up every morning. I recommend the Bento Lunch Box . It has compartment portions like a bento. Its leak proof and durable. Comes in green, blue, and purple. I love this lunch box because it can fit in a handle lunch box. The compartments are perfect for different selections.

Grocery Food List:

Fruits: Seedless Orange, Grapes, Strawberries, Package of Apples pre-cut, clementines

Vegetables: Carrots, Celery

Juice pouches (boxed or plastic)

Small Water bottles

Peanuts if they aren’t allergic. Almonds. Some schools actually don’t allow peanuts. Check in with the school first!

String Cheese or Slim Jims

Zip lock bags

Fruit cups

Apple Sauce Cups

Yogurt

Cold Lunch:

Ham and cheese sandwiches pre-made for the week. Can be turkey and cheese as well! Keep refrigerated.

Put in their favorite foods but make sure that when they come back from school the vegetables have been eaten!

Put a Juice box in freezer so when they are getting the lunch packs it will be melted by lunch time and it will keep food cold!

Your little one tired of sandwiches?
  • Make your own Lunch-able right from home! Crackers of your choice, cut deli meats and cheese into squares (easier for you). You know what ingredients are being put in which would make you happier than buying already made lunch-able.
  • Wraps! Your choice of wrap(flour or wheat). Tuna, Vegetable, or meat wrap.
  • Pasta. Pasta can be eaten cold as well. Make ones that don’t have meat in it !

Hot Lunch:

Everyone gets tired of eating cold lunches after awhile. I recommend the Thermo Bento Box . Its amazing at keeping lunches warm until lunch time. Also spill proof and has different compartments. There’s a more variety of food choices to pick from so your little one can look forward to eating.

  • Spaghetti
  • mac and cheese
  • Nuggets
  • Quesadilla
  • Dinner from the day before
  • Mashed Potatoes

Anything brought from home is better than lunch being served at the cafeteria! You choose what they eat and you choose what kind of diet they will be upholding.
